4WD Recovery Kits

Essential Off-Road Recovery Gear for Every Explorer

A quality recovery kit is the most important investment you can make for your 4x4. Whether you are a solo traveller or part of a club, having a complete set of rated equipment ensures that a simple bogging doesn't turn into a dangerous situation.

Comprehensive Snatch & Kinetic Kits: We provide kits featuring high-stretch snatch straps and kinetic ropes that use your vehicle's momentum to safely extract bogged rigs.

Winch Recovery Gear: For vehicles equipped with winches, our kits include tree trunk protectors, snatch blocks (pulley blocks), and bow shackles to double your pulling power and protect the environment.

Rated Hardware: Every shackle, hook, and connector in our 4x4 recovery kits is fully rated and tested to meet Australian safety standards.

Leading Brands: Shop trusted names in the off-road industry, including Ironman 4x4, EFS, Tough Dog, Hulk 4x4, and Mean Mother.

Whether you need a basic "starter kit" or a professional-grade winch recovery bag, our selection is designed to withstand the harsh corrugations and grit of the Australian outback. Enjoy fast dispatch Australia-wide on all orders.

Frequently Asked Questions

For most new off-roaders, we recommend a "snatch recovery kit" that includes a rated snatch strap, two bow shackles, a pair of heavy-duty gloves, and a dampener bag. This covers the most common recovery scenarios where a second vehicle is present.

Safety is paramount. Always use rated recovery points (never tow balls), ensure all bystanders are at least 1.5 times the length of the strap away, and use a dampener bag on the strap or winch line to absorb energy in case of a failure. If you are unsure, we recommend attending a certified 4WD training course.

A snatch strap is designed to stretch (typically 20-30%) to store and release energy for a dynamic recovery. A tow strap has no stretch and is intended only for pulling a rolling vehicle on flat ground. Never use a tow strap for a snatch recovery, as the lack of "give" can cause catastrophic frame or point failure.

Most standard kits focus on straps and hardware. While recovery tracks (like Maxtrax or Treds) are essential tools, they are typically sold separately due to their size. However, some "master kits" may include them - check the specific product inclusions for details.
